Highland Avenue Median

The Historic Highland Median

Highland Avenue's median parkway -- with its historic palm trees -- is located between Melrose Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. The Highland Median was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1972. The Queen palms (Syagrus romanzoffiana) and Mexican fan palms (Washingtonia robusta) on the Highland median were planted in 1928.

Today, the HPHA'48 has a committee made up of Highland Ave. residents and board members who help oversee the maintenance and preservation of the of the median. We work with the City to maintain the sprinkler system and to ensure that trash is picked up regularly. Please Highland Median committee chair, Bill Newby if you notice damage to any of the trees or to the grass on the median.
